Karina's Service
We had a small morning family service with our dear friend Pastor Chuck Jacob (Knox Presbyterian) flying out from Michigan to give the homily. Karina and Fernette had stayed with Chuck and his family when she was getting treatment at Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit. We so loved that Chuck compared Karina to Reepicheep, Karina's favorite character in the Narnia stories.
Karina's friends Maggie read Romans 8:18-39 and Joshua 1:9, and Christina read Psalm 116. Karina's cousin Kirsten Blakeslee and aunt Lynise Eide provided music and her brother Krister drew her portrait for the program.
The hymns as Scripture passages were all meaningful to Karina. Kirsten and Lynise had suggested I Will Sing Praise because they remembered learning that hymn together with Karina, gathered around Karina's grandparents' piano. They remembered Karina belting out the verses with them - just 2 weeks after learning she had metastatic cancer.
We showed the presentation below at Karina's Service at the Rosehill Community Center. It was a picture perfect beautiful sunny day - Puget Sound was a rich color blue and we watched the ferry boat coming in and out of Mukilteo like our we did with Karina waiting for Krister to get out of his art class. There were beautiful flowers, wonderful friends and family, and so many people who knew Karina and touched our lives.
